Carer's Group

Did you know there is a wealth of resources, free workshops, help and advice available to you as a carer?

When carers are usually asked this question by us, the answer is usually no and this is where we come in. We can signpost you to a wealth of resources, carers networks and free workshops whatever your needs may be to aid your caring role. There is always help out there. We would like you to know that we understand here at the Collegiate Medical Centre that all carers needs are different and that not all caring roles are the same and we welcome this difference.

Free NHS Health Check

In order for you to be able to look after your loved ones, your health is also of great importance and here at the Collegiate Medical Centre we endeavour to provide our carers with the upmost quality care. Therefore as a Carer you are entitled to a FREE NHS health check annually and you will be invited in for this on an annual basis. If you have not had your NHS Health Check please contact the surgery on 0161 205 4364 to make an appointment with one of our nurses. These health checks are designed to detect any early signs of any health conditions which could become problematic in the future. And having one of these checks is a good way to find ways to lower the risk, enables the nurse to make any recommendations and refer you to a doctor for further investigations if they feel necessary.

Carers Support Group

We recently started our first carers group alongside the Manchester Carers Network which was extremely successful, carers were invited to pop along, have a tea or coffee and meet other carers to get advice on any areas which they may have needed help with. This was organised as a very informal and relaxed group meeting and feedback from the Carers who attended has been overwhelming. Our next meeting was arranged to tackle the topic of benefits advice as suggested unanimously by the attendees at our initial meeting, however due to the current pandemic this had to be postponed till further notice. We will be updating you on the date of the next meeting in due course.

If you would like any information please do not hesitate to contact our Carers Lead Sadiah, who will be more than happy to help. If you need an appointment with our Carers Nurse Rebecca, you can even book in a telephone consultation to make it easier.

Please ring 0161 205 4364 and ask for Sadiah, she is trained and dedicated to try and make life easier for you !
